Fortnite’s adding a museum about the Holocaust-

Fortnite is most definitely a videogame, but the incomparable success of Epic’s battle royale has led to it becoming something of (sorry) a platform too. It wasn’t necessarily built for this in the same way that something like Roblox was, so there’s a seat-of-the-pants element to much of what Epic does with it, and one recurring and surprising theme is education. Fortnite has a huge audience, mostly young, and Epic clearly feels they could stand some fibre in their diet alongside the Ariana Grande concerts and Marvel jamborees.

The most prominent example of this is the Martin Luther King Jr. interactive experience, March Through Time, where players can learn about the civil rights leader and the wider historical context of the racism he fought against: they can even w…

Helldivers 2 help is coming- Updates focused on fixing ‘login, matchmaking, and server load’ problems will begin rolling out tomorrow-

If you’ve been struggling to get into Helldivers 2, you can at least take some small measure of comfort in knowing you’re not alone. Servers are crushed, matchmaking isn’t working properly, and some clever diehards are trying to avoid the queue issues by simply staying logged in overnight, a strategy enabled by the lack of an AFK timer (and which of course also makes things worse for people who actually want to play the game).

Developer Arrowhead Studios capped the concurrent player count at 450,000 over the weekend in order to help alleviate the worst of the troubles, but that’s obviously not an ideal solution when you’ve got more than 450,000 people who want to play Helldivers 2 at the same time. Fortunately, more help is coming soon.

“We have improvements rolling out this…

Hideo Kojima will show off all his celebrity friends in a documentary coming to Disney+ next year-

Remember back in June, when Hideo Kojima—you know, the Policenauts guy—made headlines for asking someone, anyone to please send him to space? He made that request as part of an upcoming documentary called Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, which got its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last summer.

Well, now we know where, and roughly when, the rest of us will be able to see it. Kojima Productions and Disney—you know, the Cool Runnings guys—today announced that the Kojima documentary will be coming to Disney+ in spring 2024. More details and a more precise date are due to hit “soon.”

I love Kojima, so don’t take this the wrong way, but the documentary’s description and trailer make it seem exactly as up itself as you expect it to be. “Widely regard…

Hi-Fi Rush, which was helmed by The Evil Within 2’s director, sure seems to be teasing The Evil Within 3-

We were caught completely by surprise when Tango Gameworks announced Hi-Fi Rush back in January, and not just because it came completely out of nowhere. The bigger surprise was that it’s a colorful, cartoony rhythm action game from a studio best known for The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo games—not exactly cheery, upbeat stuff. But a recently discovered Easter egg could indicate that the studio will soon return to more familiar territory.

A screen that appears during a late-game cinematic that plays ahead of Track 11: The Needle Drop features a not-too-subtle fictional news snippet: “Sequel to popular survival horror game franchise announced.” It’s only visible for a second or two, and the text is quite small compared to the rest of the visual, but it’s definitely there. …

Modders rejoice! Bringing ray tracing to PC gaming classics just got way easier-

Nvidia announced that part of its free RTX Remix open source modding platform is available for download starting today. RTX Remix runtime will let modders quickly dive into their favorite classic DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 PC games and easily add modern lighting and textures to existing game assets in a way that saves a lot of time and effort.

The RTX Remix runtime lets a modder capture a game scene and then replace assets in real-time while “injecting RTX technology,” like path tracing, DLSS 3, Nvidia Reflex, and AI-enhanced textures into a game. The remastered assets can then be exported to various developer apps like Unreal Engine, Blender, and Nvidia’s Omniverse apps.

The complete capabilities of the Remix runtime feature are listed here. Some other things you’ll be …

Star Wars Jedi- Survivor players are going bananas customizing cylinders and showing them to each other-

Performance woes aside, we really enjoyed Jedi: Survivor, a new swashbuckling Star Wars tale starring fan favorite Punished “Venom” Cal Kestis. One delightful surprise has been how much Respawn’s leaned into Cal Kustomization, with all kinds of lootable beards and hairstyles leading to personalized variations like “indie sleaze” Cal Kestis, “this town ain’t big enough for the two of us” Cal Kestis, “Roinks, Raggy!” Cal Kestis, or even the ultra-rare, bemulleted “Eastbound and Down” Cal Kestis.

Perhaps of greater note of those who aren’t Cal Kestis superfans like me, Jedi: Survivor has some intensely granular lightsaber customization options. You can swap out every chunk of Cal’s lethal cylinder with over a dozen cylindrical stylings, plus loads of paint finishes, a slider to make …
